Hard Miles for Happy Smiles

This August, an intrepid group of cyclists – including one of Fulfil the Wish’s trustees, Nick Davis – is setting off on a gruelling 4-day challenge of cycling from Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk to Disneyland Paris to coincide with the charity’s annual adventure to the land where dreams come true!

The Challenge

The group of up to six riders will be setting off from Bury St Edmunds on Saturday 18th August and will head through the Suffolk and Essex countryside towards London. An overnight stop near Tower Bridge will be followed on the Sunday by a long ride southwards towards the port of Newhaven. This means our cyclists will experience a nice – albeit painful – journey through the countryside over the South Downs towards the coast to  catch the ferry to the Northern French town of Dieppe.

After a long soak and a good night’s sleep, the intrepid group will head off South Eastwards, towards Chantilly for the last overnight stop. Finally, on the last day they will head around the North of Paris and drop down to Disneyland Paris, where they will receive a raucous reception from the travelling group, a quick photo shoot and a well earned beverage!

The total distance will be around 400 miles (dependant on routes) and will be completed in 4 gruelling days. There will be no respite for our Trustee, Nick, either – he will then be pushing his son William around the parks for the next 3 days!

How You Can Help

You can support the Hard Miles team by sponsoring and and sharing their donation links, helping to get others to donate towards their challenge.

The group have set their fundraising target at £5000 as this will fund 25% of the cost of next year’s trip to Disneyland Paris.

Also, a key factor in the potential success of this event is corporate sponsorship, which will help to fund the challenge. The team will require around £2500 to cover the costs of accommodation, food, ferry and the all important support vehicle so any help will be very gratefully received.

Corporate support doesn’t necessarily have to be in the form of financial donations, but could, for example, be donating the use of a van to act as the support vehicle, products such as food and bottled water or vouchers for purchasing equipment such as spare tyres etc.

Please help us by spreading the word of this mad-cap cycling adventure and – as the ride name says – support us in our quest to conquer Hard Miles for Happy Smiles.
